Simulation of the NPT-negotiations

Like in the years before, INESAP and the Darmstadt Technical University organized a simulation game at the NPT PrepCom in Vienna. More than 30 students from the University of Hamburg and the Darmstadt Technical University participated. Besides the simulated negotiations, they had the chance to talk to diplomats and thus learn more about the difficulties of international proceedings.

Simulation of the NPT-negotiations

INESAP conducted its third simulated negotiations of the Model Nuclear Weapons on May 12-13, 2010 with 35 international participants from different universities.
In four sessions, they negotiate Articles IX (Nuclear Weapons) and X (Nuclear Materials) of the Model Nuclear Weapons Convention (UN document A/62/650).

Simulation game “We Negotiate a Nuclear Weapons Convention”

After the successful simulation game at the NPT PrepCom 2008, INESAP and the Darmstadt Technical University again organized a similar one at the PrepCom 2009. Again, a joyful number of 30 university students participated and simulated the negotiation of a Nuclear Weapons Convention.

Simulation game “Negotiations for a Nuclear Weapons Convention”

INESAP, in cooperation with Ban All Nukes generation (BANg) and the Darmstadt Technical University, organized the simulation game “Negotiations for a Nuclear Weapons Convention”. The ambassador of Chile, Mr. Alfredo Labbé; Professor Tilman Ruff, member of the official Australian delegation to the NPT PrepCom and Xanthe Hall from IPPNW Germany chaired this event. More than 50 youths and university students participated.

INESAP, together with IPPNW, IALANA and the Government of Malaysia, also sponsored the international launch of the new civil society campaign International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN). For more information about the work of ICAN look at www.icanw.org.

Aditionally the release of a new edition of Securing our Survival: The Case for a Nuclear Weapons Convention was co-sponsored ba INESAP.
